I                                                                                                                                                                                                                  It took seven years, but it looks like Ontarians have finally come around to realize what a disaster the Dalton McGuinty regime has been for this province.

The latest Toronto Star / Angus Reid poll reveals three out of four Ontarians have had enough of the guy.

If you’ve been reading this blog since its inception four and a half years ago, you know where I’ve stood.

Dalton McGuinty is the worst politician I’ve experienced since I cast my first ballot in 1978. Of course you have to watch how you position this, because what bothers me about McGuinty, is what some might argue makes a good politician.

He’s a disgusting liar. With no shame.

It’s amazing how this province has been duped into giving this man the long run he’s had. He’s been nothing but an enemy of the people with the moves he’s made, calculated around his mandate.

Like the HST. After rejecting the concept prior to the last election, he waits till mid-term to bring it in, hoping the electorate, in typical Ontario fashion, will forgive and forget by the time the next election rolls around.

He’s a manipulator. He’s conniving and he’s untrustworthy. And you voted for him.

Twice.

It all gets back to the same thing that plagues Ontario. Blind hatred for the Conservatives makes people go into a voting booth and mark Liberal, just because it’s Liberal, and just because it’s not Conservative.

Well look where it’s gotten us. Three quarters of Ontarians now admit they feel poorer now than they did two years ago and it’s tied directly to the HST which we now pay on virtually everything.

McGuinty will look you in the eye and claim the HST will eventually filter through business and force prices down, but that, like most things McGuinty says is a lie, and if not a lie, a dream.

And hold on all you anti-cons. Yes, the HST was promoted by the Conservatives, but in the end it was McGuinty’s call. His decision. His thirst for cash because he’s totally mismanaged the province.

Funny how he blames everything that goes wrong on the federal government, but all of a sudden, when it means taking more money out of your pocket, he buys into a federal scheme.

McGuinty’s legacy is something to be ashamed of. From the back-door health tax he introduced during his first man-date, to the botched eco tax he pretends will actually help the environment.

It was nothing but another tax grab.

I laugh when people look back on the Harris government like it was some kind of disease. At least Harris told the truth. You might not have liked what he did, but he did what he said he was going to do.

I’ll take a tough love leader long before I’ll accept a back door liar.

When are the people of this province going to wake-up and got over this Liberal obsession?

The height of pathetic was the last election when John Tory was punished by the people of Ontario for being fair. Full funding might have seemed distasteful, but as long as the Separate School board exists, full funding should be an option for everyone.

How ironic that John Tory introduces a fair and equal plan while being honest, only to be toppled by one of the most horrific liars in the history of Canadian politics.

I’m encouraged by the latest polls, but I’m not going to get ahead of myself because I’ve seen this play before. I don’t trust the electorate of this province. It’s amazing how many people, who appear to be smart, become dummies when they walk into a polling station.

And believe me people, my position is nothing to do with party politics. I’ve voted for all three parties over my lifetime.

This is all about truth and honour and integrity….. and McGuinty has none of it.

Why would anyone vote for this idiot in the next election anyway? Are Canadians that stupid?

Does this clown really think that by giving the government more "money" global warming will stop?

Global warming is a normal part of the earths evolution and a normal part of nature. I think that these Liberal bastards know this so they use this fear tactic on the taxpayer to extort more money from us….what do they do with all this money anyway? They sure as hell will not use it to fix global warming that’s for sure…

Canadians need to give their heads a shake and ignore this Liberal bastard and stop giving Liberals an opportunity to run this country….

I met Jeff Healey back in the 1980’s and I was immediately drawn-in by his attitude.

He was extremely positive for a guy who to my mind should have been extremely frustrated. I thought wow, the guy’s good looking, he’s got endless talent, but he’s blind, it must drive him nuts.

You never got that impression from Healey who not only lived with his handicap, but he spit in its eye and became one of Canada’s foremost blues and jazz musicians.

Yesterday, at St. Joseph’s hospital, the cancer that took Jeff’s eyesight before his first birthday, finally took his life. I’m sure the tributes will poor in today from people that who are a lot more qualified than I am, so I won’t go that way with this piece.

Instead I’ll question how one person is chosen to suffer so much pain.

Jeff Healey enjoyed a successful career and was loved by millions, but he had to deal with things that most of us can’t begin to appreciate. Imagine being blind as child, overcoming the handicap to become an exceptional musician, then to be cruelly cut down by a vicious disease before your 42nd birthday.

I’m sure if given a choice Healey would have traded his success for just one glimpse of his wife and two children.

In situations like this I really wonder about who makes these decisions.

I’m not much of a believer. I’d like to believe, I want to believe, it would be nice to believe.

But when it comes to situations like Jeff Healey’s, I can’t believe.

So let’s get this straight.

The Ontario Human Rights Commission has time to look into the treatment of Asian fisherman in the province, and they have time to defend an East Indian man who doesn’t want to wear a helmet while riding a motorcycle, but they don’t have time to look into the treatment of the elderly in our nursing homes?

That just about says it all about Ontario and Canada in 2008.

There is a major staffing problem at the provinces nursing homes, a problem that hasn’t been addressed by the McGuinty government since it took power in 2003.

It’s become one of the hundreds of lies our two faced premier has broken since he was given power by a mindless electorate, not once but twice.

Complaints have flooded into the Ontario Humane Rights Commission because hundreds of our seniors are being neglected in provincial institutions and nothing is being done about it.

Diapers go unchanged and hundreds go without baths for several weeks, but this is not a priority of the Humane Rights Commission which claims it doesn’t have time to look into it.

And its being mocked by health minister George Smitherman.

I find this so infuriating a can hardly see straight.

The people in Ontario’s nursing homes are citizens who were contributing to this province long before Asian angling or turban wearing motorcyclists were an issue, but they’re being ignored by a pack of spineless bastards who’d rather avoid a difficult issue and concentrate on flimsy racial fantasies.

Barbara Hall should be ashamed of herself. She’s quick the throw the “R” word around, and she’s quick to establish double standards for people who want to wear turbans rather than helmets, but she doesn’t have time for our elderly.

George Smitherman should have his ass kicked out of office today. This smart ass prick took advantage of a photo op back in ‘03, he worked up tears in his eyes while he talked about a nursing home patient with bed sores and vowed to fix the problem with “missionary zeal.”

Of course, five years later nothing has been done.

Yesterday he stood before reporters with a big goofy smile on his face and said he planned personally test incontinence products to get a handle on the situation.

He plans to wear an adult diaper as some kind of a measuring stick against what many of our seniors are going through.

It’s an insult to those who work in nursing homes, but more importantly its insulting to those Canadians who find themselves living in such places, people who’ve been pushed to the back of the line behind fishermen and bikers.

But most of all, as usual, the spotlight should shine on our useless Premier.

What has this man done since coming to power in 2003 other than benefit from a huge campaigning mistake by John Tory?

Barbara Hall is pathetic, and George Smitherman is a joke, but they both fall under, and both pale in comparison to a deceitful little jelly fish named Dalton McGuinty.

I read the story of Aqsa Parvez and I can’t believe the words. To think a father could murder his daughter over religion in Canada in 2007 is too much to comprehend.

To have a healthy, beautiful, well adjusted 16 year old daughter is a blessing that transcends all religions. Religion should play a distant second to family, and that’s not opinion, its common sense.

Aqsa Parvez just wanted to be like the other kids she hung out with. That’s all.

She wanted to dress like them and look like them, but because it threatened her father’s religious and cultural standards, she dies.

How shocking that anyone would put such a thing ahead of their child’s welfare. From all accounts this was a good kid who just didn’t want to wear a hijab, but it became such an issue that she was afraid to go home and face her father and brothers.

We try and protect our children from drugs and gangs and other bad influences, but we’re constantly put in the position of having to compromise on other things we might not be comfortable with, but things that don’t really matter in the big picture.

Bending on some issues allows your child to feel their space and live with their decisions and consequences that follow.

This isn’t some story that found its way from Saudi Arabia or some other whacked out Muslim country, it happened in Mississauga.

Aqsa Parvez didn’t want to wear a head dress and this morning she died for it.

President Bush was visiting a primary school and he visited one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to words and their meanings. The teacher asked the President if he would like to lead the discussion on the word "tragedy".

So the illustrious leader asked the class for an example of a "tragedy".

One little boy stood up and offered: ‘If my best friend, who lives on a farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him and kills him, that would be a tragedy.

‘No,’ said Bush, ‘that would be an accident.’

A little girl raised her hand: ‘If a school bus carrying 50 children drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy.

‘I’m afraid not,’ explained the president. "That’s what we would call great loss."

The room went silent. No other children volunteered. Bush searched the room. "Isn’t there someone here who can give me an example of a tragedy?"

Finally at the back of the room a small boy raised his hand…In a quiet voice he said: "If Air Force One carrying you and Mrs. Bush was struck by a ‘friendly fire’ missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a tragedy."

"Fantastic!" exclaimed Bush. "That’s right. And can you tell me why that would be tragedy?"

"Well, says the boy, ‘It has to be a tragedy, because it certainly wouldn’t be a great loss and it probably wouldn’t be a fucking accident either."

The free worlds biggest puckered is on his way to California today to support victims of the horrible brush fires that have ruined thousands of lives in the past several days.

I couldn’t help but chuckle when George W. made all kinds of grandiose statements before jumping on Air Force One to show his pathetic face in the Golden State.

I’m just wondering what his motivation is. Is he going because he’s embarrassed by his slow and perverted reaction to hurricane Katrina and he doesn’t want to make the same mistake twice, or does he consider the people of Southern California more important than those who lost everything in Louisiana and Mississippi?

Mike Stafford asked similar questions on his blog yesterday.

There is still a lot of unfinished business in Katrina’s aftermath but nothing is being done about it. People still live in trailers and insurance companies are still screwing people sideways and it seems like the goofy President doesn’t give a hoot.

Katrina was a huge embarrassment for the USA as it exposed their priorities when it comes to race and affluence.

Somehow I think going to California will be a lot more comfortable for Bush.
